Our History

The Consult Your Community (CYC) National Organization was created in 2013 and has since formed chapters in 28 universities throughout the United States. In January of 2024, after many long months of hard work behind the scenes to pass the accreditation process, St. John's University was able to announce its first-ever student-led consulting organization. Our recognition as an official CYC chapter makes us the most recent university to join their ranks of top schools.

Our Journey...

Although the St. John's chapter held its first meeting in January of 2024, getting to that point resulted from many long months of hard work and planning and a years-long desire to bring a student consulting organization to St. John's.

With consulting being one of the most popular and lucrative careers in business, many students seek to gain as much hands-on experience as early in their careers as possible, with St. John's University students being no exception. Unfortunately, chances to get involved with real consulting projects were few and far between. However, three bright students at the Peter J. Tobin College of Business set out to discover real-world opportunities for both themselves and their peers, bringing about the idea of establishing a CYC chapter on our campus.

After speaking with CYC members from other universities, the St. John's accreditation process began midway through the 2023 Fall Semester. Despite the long hours, numerous deliverables, and the collection of certain crucial metrics, the accreditation process was finally completed at the end of the Fall Semester. From there, an inaugural E-Board, composed of Tobin students eager to get involved, was formed and the rest is history.

Although we have come very far as a chapter in such a short time, we continuously strive to bring the St. John's student body, as well as the local community, together through the work that we do!
